Unix For Others is a SIG at the University of Mainz.

We have changed the time of our meetings from November 2003 on. Meetings are now every odd wednesday of the month around 7pm in Kursraum 3 (the former workstation laboratory) of the Zentrum fuer Datenverarbeitung.

We are a Unix derivate independent group. Every flavor of Unix is welcome.

23. February 2005 We are experimenting with a WIKI Terminplan, the idea is that people can announce that they will be attending and that even those who do not have access to their ufo-l mail can see it. Ideas for topics can be communicated here as well.
22. September 2004 The web site has been moved to a new dual AMD64 box und is running under Linux Debian AMD64. Rack space and connectivity are sponsored by the University of Mainz. The server is sponsored by Michael Neuffer. This new box is intended to help with the Debian AMD64/multiarch and Debian makeworld efforts.
20. November 2003 We changed the time of our meetings from Mondays to Wednesdays
22. April 2003Some time ago the ftp server did not boot anymore. I had not time to look into it. The WWW-Server hat to be stopped too, because the space of the rack was needed for the new aircondition. So the page is now on a Linux-Box. (So it goes)
22. April 2000 All but one place on the SCSI adapters of the ftp machine are now connected to disks. So if we need more space, we have to replace existing disks. - Which I just did. We have now about 10G. Also I am now using to CCD disk arrays to ease the maintainance of the different mirrors. In the last months it happened often that one disk was full and I had to split up one mirror. The disadvantage is, if one disk crashes the whole CCD is gone.
1. October 1999 Mirroring of www.netbsd.org is now running every night.

The ftp machine now has an additional 4GB disk. So I could enable the mirror of the packages distribution again. But I think, it will take some time to get in sync with ftp.netbsd.org. The machine also now has two SCSI controllers. So there is potential to connect some more disks if needed.

23. September 1999 I have just started the mirroring of www.netbsd.org. So it is not yet complete. As I don't know how large the mirror will be, it might happen, that the partition gets full.

The disks on the ftp-server for the subdirectories packages, NetBSD-current and arch are full. So the distribution might be incomplete. I will connect a larger disk in the next days
